Developing adult numeracy curriculum
In the Australian Curriculum, students become numerate as they develop the knowledge and skills to use mathematics confidently across other learning areas at school and in their lives more broadly. Numeracy encompasses the knowledge, skills, behaviours and dispositions that students need to use mathematics in a wide range of situations. It involves students recognising and understanding the role of mathematics in the world and having the dispositions and capacities to use mathematical knowledge and skills purposefully. When teachers identify numeracy demands across the curriculum, students have opportunities to transfer their mathematical knowledge and skills to contexts outside the mathematics classroom. These opportunities help students recognise the interconnected nature of mathematical knowledge, other learning areas and the wider world, and encourage them to use their mathematical skills broadly. This icon shows where Numeracy has been identified in learning area content descriptions and elaborations.

Adult literacy and numeracy standards and curriculum | Excellence Gateway - Toolkits
The adult literacy and numeracy standards define the range of literacy, language and numeracy skills and capabilities that adults need to function and progress at work and in society. The adult literacy and numeracy core curriculum gives specific detail about what skills should be taught. It forms the basic building blocks for all the other adult literacy, language and numeracy qualifications, including key skills and functional skills. It should be used to underpin all teaching and learning of these skills. The adult literacy and numeracy core curricula were developed in to reflect these new national standards. There is also a curriculum for English for speakers of other languages ESOL and a pre-entry curriculum framework particularly designed for learners with learning difficulties or disabilities who are in the early stages of acquiring communication and number skills.
